I'm an artist, designer and THE GRIM WREATHER
Andy Alexander studied fine art at UCLA and received his MFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He teaches at Art Center at Night and Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Over the last 20 years he has developed a unique art career showing in galleries, museums and retail venues from Berlin to New Zealand. With a deep commitment to contemporary pop culture, Andy makes eye popping psychedelic drawings, sculptures and installations.
He has collaborated with Rachel Comey on a line of clothing, shoes and an in-store installation. Unapologetically weird and super fun to work with, Andy is a sought after art director and branding guru working for companies like Napster and Google. His most recent business adventure is the Grim Wreather, an uncanny and thoughtful twist on Christmas wreaths that delight horror movie buffs and the fashion world as well (I know - weird, right?).
His wreaths have been collected by luminaries like Dita Von Teese, Kelly Wearstler, Rafeal De Cardenas, Carol Lim and David Sandberg. Andy was recently commissioned by Opening Ceremony to make twisted hand made Christmas ornaments for their Holiday shop and he hosted one of his sought after workshops replete with tarot readings. His most ambitious retail project to date was a Grim Wreather take over commissioned by Nordstroms and Nike for holiday. What's next? Who knows, it's just got to be amazing.
